Technology is Movement Infrastructure

We increase access to enterprise-grade IT support for social movements building a more just world.

Our mission

We ensure grassroots organizations — particularly BIPOC-led, queer, trans, and working-class-led groups — can access secure, values-aligned IT infrastructure without being priced out of safety.

Technology Is Movement Infrastructure

Secure systems are as essential to a movement's power as its people and its message.

Cybersecurity Is Collective Care

Protecting an organization's data and communications is an act of care for everyone it serves.

Grassroots Orgs Deserve Enterprise-Grade Support

Strong security shouldn't be a privilege reserved for organizations that can afford it.

Grassroots organizations, led by and for the communities most impacted

We support grassroots 501(c)(3)s and fiscally-sponsored projects — the organizations doing the most urgent work with the fewest resources.

BIPOC-Led Organizations

Queer & Trans-Led Groups

Working-Class-Led Movements

Fiscally-Sponsored Grassroots Projects

No organization should have to choose between safety and sustainability.

By subsidizing IT infrastructure costs and providing free digital security training, we keep the technical backbone of social movements as strong as the people powering them.

50–100%

Of one year of enterprise IT support costs covered through our grants.

Grants to pay for 50–100% of IT support for a full year

Funds are paid directly to our IT partner, Rooted Systems, to provide you with the following services:

  • Google / Microsoft Workspace support
  • Helpdesk (1-hr first response, 3-day resolution)
  • Multi-Factor Authentication setup
  • Antivirus & security patching
  • Basic access controls
  • Annual digital security training
  • Foundational IT systems support

Why It Matters

Grassroots organizations are often targeted precisely because of the justice work they do — and are the least resourced to defend against it.

MTF closes that gap so the security of your systems never depends on the size of your budget.

Grants are administered in partnership with Rooted Systems, MTF's IT services provider.
